Brief Overview of Program:

Parents as Teachers is a curriculum based free and voluntary home visitation program that emphasizes the idea of parents being a child’s first teacher and that children learn best from them. We are committed to enhancing child development, family wellbeing and prepare children and their families for the transition to kindergarten. Parent Educators (PE's) meet families in the home, out in the community, or any place convenient to the family for an hour, 1-2 times a month. PE’s will bring toys, crafts, or other fun activities with them which gives parents the opportunity to engage in play with their child(ren).

Benefits of the Program:

  • Improved Family Relationships: Helps strengthen the bond between parents and children by providing guidance on understanding and responding to a child's needs
  • Enhanced Child Development: Home visitors offer strategies to support cognitive, social, and emotional development through age-appropriate activities and communication techniques
  • School Readiness: PAT focuses on early literacy and learning experiences, these programs prepare children for success in school. We provide opportunities to increase school readiness at every visit.
  • Reduced Child Abuse and Neglect: Providing caregivers with knowledge and training helps reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect
